IRAN’s OVERTURE: Iranian negotiators put forward what they called a potential breakthrough plan Tuesday at the long-stalled talks on easing fears that Tehran wants atomic arms. No details were disclosed. MOTIVATION: Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi alluded to international pressure over Iran’s nuclear program before the presentation, and said “We no longer want to walk in the dark and uncertainty and have doubts about the future.” THE GOAL: Tehran wants to escape international sanctions that are hurting its economy, and under new leadership has indicated a willingness to compromise. The U.S, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany want real progress such as increased international monitoring and scaling back uranium enrichment. ----- For the complete story: www.washingtonpost.com/business/news-summary-iran-says-it-wants-to-leave-dark-path-of-isolation-presents-nuclear-proposals/2013/10/15/3a5edfd8-35bc-11e3-89db-8002ba99b894_story.html

I'm overjoyed to hear this Hera. I remember back in the da when Iran was stalwart against the States and a major disturber of global peace. Its nice to see them talking peaceful talk. Do I trust them? No, not really but if they are saying it officially, then something has to be going on.
North Korea has been making bold steps in a positive direction too, which I'm glad for. Is this the direction that the world is going in? God I hope (crosses myself). The economy is doing well in spots s there is hope there, but I'm still worried about this default situation they keep talking about at a national level. Some days I wake up wishing I could do something about the situation, as I hope most people are doing too.
That's part of the reason I like to hang in the political section here because, Hera, got to say, I like the posts you are putting up. They seem realistic and a good cross-section of what's ACTUALLY going on today. I feel like I've learned something. Thank you Hera for your post, it was really informative and cheered me up some.
