The University of Texas MD Anderson Regional Care Center in the Bay Area will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month by lighting Pearland Town Center, 11200 Broadway St., all in pink from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, during a live music performance. The Pink Lighting event is held each year to shine a light on breast cancer and raise awareness for the resources available in the community to those facing the disease. "The MD Anderson Regional Care Center in the Bay Area is honored to host this unique community event that celebrates survivorship, raises awareness about the risks of breast cancer and encourages everyone to be properly screened," said Dr. Richard Ehlers, surgeon and medical director of the regional care center. "We are also excited to bring the event to Pearland Town Center this year. This is a thriving community, and we want to be able to talk with the residents here to let them know about the cancer care options they have close to home." MD Anderson staff will pass out free educational materials and pink glow necklaces and answer questions. ----- For the complete story: www.chron.com/neighborhood/bayarea/news/article/Pearland-Town-Center-to-turn-pink-to-highlight-4897111.php
