I hang out with quite a few New Agers. WHile I applaud their forward-thinking, a lot of times I get the sense that they like to skim the various works out there, sampling from one dish and then from another, becoming passingly familiar with the Truth, the Dharma, Christianity, and other sources. My contention is that a more formalized curriculum needs to become the fashion. Where the classic works such as the Bible and other religious works becomes the norm, not the exception. This should give meat, where the previous skimming and sampling gives way to a more serious study of that which is metaphysically and spiritually true. In this vein, I'm putting up a link to an english translation to one of the centeral (if not the central) scripture in Hinduism: the Bagavagita. It is a story of a holy spiritual war, between Man and demon and one man's struggle with the unseen and the dangerous. Even the man Krishna, an incarnation of Vishnu. The BagavagitaHere is one of the pages I found that was inspirational to me. Kasava Kasmiri's Introduction www.bhagavad-gita.org/Gita/Commentaries/kumara-intro.htmlI love the Dharma, both Buddhist and Hindu, and I find it gives further substance to my beleifs as a Christian, to know that people of other lands and cultures also beleive in a Supreme Personality, that is to say God. Let me know your thoughts and post here as you get the yen or inspiration to. Thanks.
